« 💪 Introduction »

If you’re looking for an ALGSO class that feels both powerful and deeply human, Ettelbruck is where you’ll find it.
This is a place where people arrive tired, hopeful, curious or uncertain, and leave feeling more grounded, more capable, and more themselves.

It’s where serious strength work meets serious kindness: the sweet spot that helps people in or after cancer treatment feel better in their bodies and their daily lives.

From the moment you step into the hall, there’s a sense of purpose mixed with warmth. It’s not a boot-camp, not a competitive fitness class, not a place where people “show off”. It’s a medically informed training session shaped around real bodies, real fatigue, real recovery…
And a very real sense of community.

This class is about building back confidence, strength and capacity, one Wednesday at a time, in a safe and welcoming environment, and with coaches who push you safely, progressively and with caring support.

Why our ALGSO Fitness and Muscle Strengthening in Ettelbruck Class is Perfect for Cancer Warriors:

Collective Strength

What makes this class special isn’t just the training. It’s the people.

Even though everyone arrives with different stories, energy levels and health backgrounds, something happens when they move together.
Support becomes contagious.
Encouragement becomes instinctive.
And inspiration comes from unexpected places.

Jérôme shared one of the group’s most inspiring success stories:

This is the essence of collective strength:

When someone struggles, the group lifts them.

When someone is tired, the group’s presence alone brings energy.

When someone is progressing, everyone celebrates.

Together, participants create a momentum that none of them could generate alone. And this applies to brand new participants, just like to long‑time members, you’re welcomed into that collective upward pull from the moment you enter the hall.

Adaptabilité

One of the most important values of this class is the recognition that every body is different, and every day is different too.

Fatigue, treatment side‑effects, emotional load, sleep, work, pain levels… Anything can influence how someone feels. And that’s okay. Nothing here is rigid.

As Jérôme explains:

Exercises are offered with variations. Movement options are provided. Rest is encouraged when needed. And progress is measured not by comparison but by what feels possible for each person on that specific day.

That’s why someone can go harder one week, take it slower the next, or switch their exercise option mid‑session, all without explanation or apology.

And when people commit to showing up regularly?

This class meets you where you are, and helps you move forward gently, sustainably, and safely.

A Safe Environment

Safety is at the heart of every ALGSO activity, and Ettelbruck is no exception. With physiotherapists leading the class, every element is built on clinical knowledge, experience and careful observation.

Exercises are adapted on the spot, and concerns are never ignored.

And throughout the session, the coaches watch closely:

It’s this combination of medically informed coaching, personalised adaptations, and an atmosphere free from judgment, that makes participants feel truly protected.

As Jérôme puts it plainly:

In this class, you’re coached by warm, committed professionals who’s care for their participants is unrivaled, and who’s attention to detail is unmatched.

A Class Designed for Real‑Life Needs After Cancer

Cancer touches every system of the body. Treatment influences energy, strength, balance, mobility, mood, and confidence. That’s why this class is:

Physio‑led and medically aware

Understanding of chemotherapy effects (including neuropathy).

Knowledge of surgical limitations, scar patterns, and bone fragility.

Awareness of cardiac side‑effects post‑treatment.

Ability to identify when someone needs to pause, adapt, or even check in with their doctor.

Tailored through real-time assessment

Your first session includes a gently chat with the coaches to get to know:

Important details of you medical background,

Any relevant information about your treatment history,

Your current limits,

What you want from the class.

From there, exercises are adapted every single week based on:

Your balance,

Your energy that day,

Your medication,

Your movement confidence.

What to Expect in this Ettelbruck Class

A structured, human‑centred hour:

And of course, music! Which matters to this group:

The Sports Aspect

This class offers a structured, human-centred hour with well‑paced, purposeful physical work. It includes:

Warm‑up that gently activates joints and muscles:

Walking patterns, mobility, gentle balance challenges.
Personalised assessment is subtly woven in. You might not notice, but the coaches do.

The main block where strength, balance & cardio are worked on

With Jérôme:

Think intervals, circuit stations, one-minute sets, et controlled burn. Intense enough to feel it, but never reckless.

With Sarah:

Think circle strengthening, balance games, one-leg ball passing, mat-based strength, and the occasional harmless vendetta with a flying ball.

Expect various forms of movement, ranging from squats to lunges, featuring ball work, resistance exercises, coordination tasks and even low-impact cardio.
Exercises may be in a circle, in stations, or done together for maximum group connection.

Participants can expect to feel engaged but not overwhelmed.
As Jérôme says:

Mat work & mobility (mostly with Sarah)

Gentler strengthening, stretching, slower pace.
A welcome transition toward calm.

A calmer, grounded, mind and body wind‑down to release tension

Breathing, mobility, slow rhythmic work, sometimes even gentle dance‑based movements.

Over time, regular attendance leads to meaningful improvements in strength, balance, stamina and daily function.

The Social Aspect

Strength isn’t only muscle.

Beyond the physical training, this Ettelbruck class has an atmosphere that many participants describe as uplifting, warm and energising.

For Jérôme personally, it’s one of the highlights of his week:

People chat, laugh, support each other and celebrate progress, big or small.
And yes: the music definitely shapes the atmosphere too.

This isn’t just exercise: it’s connection, comfort and community.

Meet the Coaches

Sarah Even

Ce qui rend Sarah spéciale, c'est la façon dont elle mélange les connaissances scientifiques, l'expertise en physiothérapie et le genre d'humour qui dissout les tensions.
She doesn’t overthink or oversell. She just shows up, fully and openly, and creates a space where movement feels doable, enjoyable, and not at all intimidating.

« ❓ Foire aux questions »

How do I know if this is the right class for me?

This is a class where strength meets softness.
Where you work hard, laugh, reset, and leave feeling like you did something good for yourself.
You’ll work and you’ll feel proud, but you’ll never be pushed beyond what’s safe.

Try it. You might surprise yourself.

Que dois-je faire si je me sens trop fatigué pour participer?

If it’s just a lack of motivation, come, it will do you good and you will thank yourself later.
Everything can be adapted and there is no pressure to do the whole thing.
However, please do be careful and listen to your body:
“Exercise can actually help with the fatigue… so I don’t let it count as a real excuse.
However, tiredness can come from a drop of the red blood cells… there can be something else behind it… so be aware.” Jérôme Camerlynck – ALGSO coach in Ettelbruck

Les cours sont-ils sécuritaires pour mon état?

Yes! This class is physio-led and medically aware.
All the exercises can be adapted and the coaches take good care of you.

Pas du tout.
You do not need to have done any sports before, or have any knowledge of the exercises. Everyone is welcome no matter their age, experience, nationality or capability.

Dans quelle langue la classe est-elle donnée?

Luxembourgish, French, and sometimes we switch to English.

Existe-t-il une option à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur?

Yes. It is indoors during the Luxembourgish school year.
During the summer break the coaches organise walks in and around Ettelbruck, provided there are enough participants.

Que dois-je apporter?
